The radiator surrounded by my apartment get piping hot. Is this mundane? Is in that anything I can do?

Please help. I am moving into an apartment near radiators ( I've never had them past, I do not know what kind they are) When I be moving some stuff in, I accidentally rubbed my foot against one of them and it HURT. It gets so hot that in attendance is NO WAY you could possibly hold your finger on there lacking burning yourself. I think it may be purely one of my radiators that is doing this but I am not sure. I enjoy 2 cats and I am extremely worried about bringing them beside me. I don't want them to get hurt. Of course, very soon that I signed the lease, my landlord is making himself out of commission. Is there a bearing to lower the heat on these things? Can I turn it past its sell-by date? What do you think the problem is? Thanks! Oh and, the apartment is on one temp control, I do not control the thermostat.

Answers:    Yep, that's the complete point. It gets hot, the upper air around it gets hot, you gain warm. It is majority to be too hot to touch.
Thats what radiators do...get hot. your cat will adjust massively rapidly and revise to avoid it.
