how does american home shield work?

i dont see anything in the contract about inspecting equipment working? I have a broken condenser, would it make sense to buy a policy and make a claim shortly thereafter?

Answers:
Be careful with American Home Shield as I had problems with them in the past. They will charge you a $50 fee for the repair person to come out to "fix" the problem (after you've paid $400 for the service plan).

In my case the repair person added freon to my air conditioner (which was leaking freon). Repair person did not fix the leak or attempt to search for the leak, just added fluid to keep it running. (so if you're car is leaking oil and you just keep adding oil, have you repaired the problem????)

Also, if they determine the problem is that the item you are having fixed was "improperly installed" or a similar issue, they can refuse to pay to have it fixed.

Good luck!

Do a search for American Home Shield on the internet and you will see other people who have had problems.
