I have a gas powered weed eater and can't get it started. Any ideas?

Dribble a little 2 stroke oil/gas mix down the carb.... not starting fluid! no lubrication and it makes em run fast and hot. And see if it'll start on that, if it doesn't....check for spark, if it has spark, check for compression (atleast over 90 psi) if its got spark and compression, check the flywheel key, its more then likely molded right in. If it starts on the gas/oil mix..... then it needs a carb rebuild.... new diapragm and all the gaskets, take it off and apart and soak it in carb cleaner for a few hours, blow it out with compressed air through any and all holes real good, and use the parts from the kit to put it back together.... pics along the way really help for a reference.

Usually with 2-strokes it the Carb need cleaned or the Fuel Pump Diaphragm need replaced. BUT, first check two things! First, Muffler; sometimes Dirt Dobbers use it for Storage and it have a Dirt Clod Stopping it up. This stops Air Flow and the Result is no Run. Second, FIRE; Remove the Plug wire and Stick a Phillips Screwdriver in it and hold the Driver about 1/4 inch from the Plug Top or a Ground and Pull the rope and see if there is a Spark. IF, the muffler & Spark are there, it the Carb need Rebuilt AND CLeaned, which most times is just the Fuel Pump Diaphram or the Jet stopped up, you will see it, that the little springy thing where your Needle Valve at, use Crab Cleaner and Spray Each and Every hole you see and be sure it come out Somewhere else, then it clear..

start with changing the plug. also make sure the spark plug wire is firmly connected to the plug.Next check the kill switch wire to see if it has come loose and is grounding out the starter mech.
Trying a new spark plug (with the correct gap) usually works well, otherwise it's a compression problem.
change the fuel fuel/oil ratio maybe wrong clean replace sparkplug clean replace airfilter check exhaust for wasp mud
