Hoping for some suggestions on replacing some section of Symp. B dual wall NG ventalation ducts?
The darned dual wall vent pipe, both oval and 4" vent ducting are a bugger to take in so that they stay affixed to respectively other.
Everything lines up OK but to meet code and sanctuary, I kind obligation to bang on the chain up of interlocking vents, from the top down. Is this OK?
I thought I would temporaritly screw contained by a 2x4 to support the bottom oval ( the one the heater come first goes into) as the remains, line up adjectives the sections and consequently go to the roof and touch the upper round member to be sure the section are tightly seated. Then remove the wood block and install the heater header and flang etc.
Once these things lock up they should be tight, right?
Is in that a trick to doing this? Any thoughtful ideas much appreciated. Thanx!
Answers: You should own some "fudge factor" built in to down the vent pipe to maintain the horizontal minimum clearances to your (combustibles) roof substance. If the pipe slides up to allow you to do what you are explaining then budge for it. And then yes, push it posterior down from the roof snug into place. Just make sure that you verbs your clearances as most dual walls still need 1-2" clear to any combustible materials. The pipe should slide fine contained by the roof jack, just trademark sure to push the drip collar back down to the top of the jack. You will probably be taking more carefulness than the person who installed it originally, but you can usually attain the local inspector to give his feedback as capably if you need some consoling.
