I used to work at Lowe's. They cut it for a small charge!! They have a special blade
Use a jig saw. But cut very carefully and leave the plastic sleeve on the plexi when you're cutting. The thicker the glass, the easier it is to cut.
Tape the area and try a flush cut bit for a router
For irregular shapes, use a pattern to cut on the line you where you want the cut. You can use a utility knife with a new or sharp blade. Basically, you can bend and tap the material until the piece you want is comes free. The main thing is to have the material on a clean flat surface when scoring it. It scratches easily.

Good luck!
jigsaw.
Plexiglass can be cut with a saw. You just have to make sure that you use a fine tooth blade. One with a lot of teeth. It is also advisable to use a slow speed saw to avoid heating up the plexiglass while you are cutting. It gums up and will attach to the saw blade and bind causing breaks in the plexiglass. Always leave the protective covering on until after you have finished cuttting.
For irregular shapes, I've always used a coping saw, slowly with the plexiglass clamped firmly. This will leave rough edges that can be easily sanded smooth.
We use a jigsaw.
