Buy powdered dye that is as close to the color of your carpet as possible mix it with water use a tooth and small cloth to brush the color in until it matches the carpet let it dry and you perfect carpet again.
You might try using a marking pen as close to the color as you can get. If it's too dark, daub it with a little vinegar and water until it gets the right shade. Hope this helps.
Hi...Boy Ive been down that road..I had the same problem, except I did it...went looking for carpet dye, couldnt find the right shade...So I tryed clothing dye, It worked great.. More shades of color to work with...........Good luck..
If the carpet is not too old, check a closet. You could use a piece from there to plug the stain. I would suggest that you have a carpet mechanic from a local floorcovering store do this. If the closet piece is a good match, considering color fade and/or pile distortion, then measure the closet for new carpet at the same time of repair. Shop around for a remnant that may be a close match to replace closet. That may not be obvious, but in any event it will be new without much question. Maybe.
But, beware of color fade or wear.
