How do I repair a pin hole in my copper pipe leading to my hot water heater?

Answers:
if you are talking standard copper tubing, try the following, take a piece of rubber, (bike inter tube, old rubber glove, or a old rubber snow boot.) cut a small square enough to cover the pin hole ( appox; 3/4 inch square) then go to the local hardware store or auto supply store and buy a small hose clamp large enough to fit around the size tubing your repairing. Open the hose clamb all the way until it opens to allow you to fit it around the tubing. reconnect and tighten slightly. place the piece of rubber over the hole, slide the hose clamp over the rubber and tighten down. this repair will last a long while or until you can have the tubing replace

Other answers:
If you mean the flexible one leading in from the incoming supply, replace it, it is not expensive.

You can buy this little kits with a piece of slightly larger copper tubing that wraps around the pipe; a little soldering later the leak is sealed.
There are patch kits that have a neoprene sleeve and a ratchet type clamp. Will last a long, long time

Or turn off the water, get a piece of copper pipe and then cut out the damaged piece and insert the new piece using compression fittings available at CTC. Saves messing with solder
"stop leak", can be bought at the hardware store...apply over the area of the leak sprays on.
TEMPORARy just 4 now duck tape is cool. You may concider changing that piping to plastic.THEY seem to last longer. I have watch my father with copper pipe sealent or "STOP LEAK" you can buy at the plumbing supply store. BUT that pipe is worn other spots as well, so i would just go ahead and change it or you will end up like us mopping the house all day sunday and fighting mildew after wards.THE PLUMMERS DAUGHTER
u can solder a piece of lead over it, using a blowtorch
first find reason that you got a leak in the pipe
is pipe rubbing against something
is copper pipe touching another pipe that is not copper

to repair pipe you should use a coupling through there are several clamps made that will last you a long time before you will need to use the coupling
solder it with a good acid base solder and a propane torch.
Here's some links to some of the suggestions mentioned above. One is a compression fitting, one is a repair clamp, and the last two are how to solder. I would do the solder, but compression fittings are good also. Hope it helps.
for an emergency repair .use a screw and an o ring
