how do i remove old bathroom tiles without damaging the wall board too much?
Answers:
Its easier to just to pull it all off. drywall is cheap!! Don't waste hours to save pennies., You will just get frustrated and have to replace the drywall anyway or have to spend hours patching and sanding.

i dont think you will be able to get away with this just form experience. wall board itself isnt to expensive but having to cut and tape again will be a hassle. but if you are pulling them to redo a bathroom around a shower you can get a new enclosure it will cover all three walls but yeah if you take your time you may get it off without puling all the paper but it may be more trouble than its worth.

It depends on what kind of tile it is. If it is a heavier ceramic tile, one way to do it would be to take a chisel and a hammer, and go around and crack the tiles. Then slowly scrape them off the wall. With the tiles in smaller pieces, they will be easier to scrape off the wall, than they would in whole pieces.
often it's easier to remove the tile and drywall together by just cutting along the edge of the existing tile and pulling the whole wall down. Then the drywall can be replaced leaving a smooth surface for installation of new tile. For a repair, a 3in. putty knife works well to remove tiles by getting it under the tiles and working it along behind the tiles to be replaced. Good luck
Go to the hardware and get a grout cutting tool. Once you cut all of the grout lines, the tile should scrape off fairly easy.
