Wooden kitchen counters?

I just purchased a SS apron sink for my kitchen, I love wooden counters but not sure if I can use them beside my sink since the sink is a undermount...has anyone have any experience with this? HELP!

Answers:    I agree beside "k h", wooden counter tops are just asking for trouble. Besides the condition concerns, they will tend to split and warp as they get showery from time to time. They will also tend to harbor mold on the underside near the sink.

If you own a "dry" island, that is the place to use a butcher block top if you really want some wood surrounded by your kitchen. Even then you will obligation to keep it microbes free and oiled.

Please choose another counter top.
Why would anyone want wooden counter tops. Do you hold any idea of the germs and germs that is held contained by wood. You would have to bleach them every time.
Butcher Block tops used to be popular many years ago until adjectives the craze about germs. I had them and they be awful to keep up and hold on to clean. Everything stained them and hot things burned them. Use your wood elsewhere and choose a more updated countertop option.
The undermount sinks are designed for granite, marble and other simular products. To use contained by a wood application would not work as this would cause rot and mold. As for the wood counter top I would suggest a pious sanding and coat near epoxy resin the kind used for block tops.
