Yes, I agrre with him^^^^. But there are so many companies and the price drastically changes. there are only 3-5 compressor manufacturers and they are all good quality so dont let them sell you on better quality parts for a higher price. the S.E.E.R.(seasonal energy efficiency rating)does not come from the compressor type,that is the unit itself.I've been a tech for 7yrs and i can tell you go with a reputable company! a 15seer will be very pricey.I've never seen one in person myself??

Probably more than you think, the compressor is one of the most expensive parts to replace....depending on the age of the unit it might be to your advantage to replace it. You are probably looking at from at least five to eight hundred dollars if not more..get estimates from several reliable heating and airconditioning places first then make your decision. Ask around and you should be able to find a reputable dealer.

More than its worth if the units older. If the units is newer check with the manufacturer to see if its still under warranty. Some compressor manufacturers warranty their residential compressors (if installed by a licensed service contractor) for several years.

Lennox is pricey with capitol letters. you would be much better off to replace it try Janitrol by goodman mfg co. they have got it right
