My flushometer is busted?
Answers:
Not a big problem. First, in the front of the unit is a small chrome cap. remove the cap & use a screwdriver to close the stop underneath. Once that is done, you can safely remove the handle, and check the gasket under it to make sure it is moving freely. If that is ok, take the top cap off the unit, remove the large black washer, and run it under some water especially at the edges to remove any debris that may plug the holes in it. If it is clean, put the unit back together and turn the water back on. If it continues to run, then you will have to replace the large gasket and should get a handle rebuild kit. As a rule, once you disturb one of these units, all the rubber parts inside need to be replaced, but the parts are pretty cheap, and they are easy to fix. For more info go to www.sloanvalve.com
If you are not comfortable with this, call a plumber.
Good luck.
