Try using white vinegar.
I do this once a week. Put 1/2 cup baking soda and 1/2 cup vinegar down your drain. Wait 15 minutes, then pour boiling water down the drain. This not only cleans and removes odor, it's a natural way to eliminate clogs.
First of all what is the odor like? Does it smell like rotten eggs or does it smell organic? Are you on county water or do you have well water? If you are on well water, how deep is the well? Is it a shallow well or is it a deep well?
I know that you shouldn't answer a question with a question but this is the only way to find an answer. If you are on county or municipal water you should contact your counties health department. If you have a well and the water has an organic odor to it, the smell could be a sign of bacteria or you could have an animal that fell in your well. If you have a rotten egg odor or sulfur odor you need a filter to remove the odor. Some water treatment companies will use chlorine to remove the odor but all that does is mask it and then you are bathing and drinking chlorinated water which I don't recommend.
