Replacing standard outlet beside GFCI outlet?
Is this as simple as basically replacing the standard outlet with a GFCI or is near additional work basic to make the transition?
Thanks!
Answers: You should own 3 wires, black, white, and a green or bare copper (ground). Follow directions for installation and adjectives should be fine.
yes very straightforward...make sure u install the grounds to the outlet....and examination the outlet

I think you want to verify that GFI's are not installed in the breaker box. You might want to check your panel box for gfi breakers. Given that this house is twenty years plus antediluvian, GFI's were commonly installed contained by the breaker panel. Like the units found along most kitchen cabinet, outdoors and and in bathrooms, the breaker would own a test and reset button on it. If you don't find them at hand, the breakers may have be replaced. Which raises other question about home repair.
I recommend that you own an licensed and experienced electrician install the outlets. At the risk of being condescending, I do not believe you own experience to install the GFCI's.
Also check the state your in, to determine minimum certificate for home inspectors. Their training might be to inspect to current code, and not old code.
No problem. Just receive sure the incoming power goes into the bottom segment of the GFI outlet and if there is any outgoing power (to another switch / plug) that must run to the top part of the outlet. Also create sure the white wires go to the wider spades of the outlet. There are 15 and 20 amp GFI's, put together sure you get the right one for your electrics. Final note--turn breaker off past making repairs.
