why is the water pooling in the drain of my stand up shower?

Answers:
Because the drain is blocked. Try bending a wire coat hanger to pull out any hair or debris. Alternatively a store bought chemical cleaner should unblock the drain. If the problem persists, call a plumber!

It's stopped up.
Get some really thick bleach and pour it down your drain and leave over night. Its probably just clogged up with hair and gunk. If that doesn't work you could try a plunger and after that shove a long flexible rod down the drain tube to dislodge the blockage
it's clogged, try prying up the metal rim and use like a fork or something to clean it out, and then use some liquid plumber or whatever you prefer.
Use coke (soft drink)! Let it sit overnight and then plunge the drain in the morning. Believe it or not this stuff will eat through an iron pipe if left there long enough.
