Answers:
Take a sample to a pool store for analysis. Tell them to check for cyanuric acid. Chlorine dissipates from water at an incredible rate. Sunshine and water temperature are the two biggest "users" of chlorine. Cyanuric acid helps block the effects of sun. It is a one time application, for the most part. Sorry, there's nothing to be done about water temperature. Pools just use more chlorine in warm water. Do adjust the pH, though. It is too low. You might also consider switching to 1 inch chlorine tablets. Smaller tablets offer more soaking surface and therefore add more chlorine. It might help you keep your chlorine level up. Since chlorine dissipates 24/7 tablets need to add at the same rate as the chlorine is being used. Also check carefully the type of "shock" you are using. Some of it has no chlorine in it at all! (Shocking is a process-- not a chemical.) Make sure it has chlorine in it.

You are playing with a whole set of chemicals....not just free chlorine that you are measuring. YOu pH is too low...adjust to about 7.6, check for Chloramines. Do this very soon, or you just may loose your water...Take a sample of the water to a swimming pool shop...they will test and let you know what to do. IF you reach a point where you get an algae bloom, you will not be happy. One black algae sets itself up, you will have to empty pool, scrub, and start all over. Act on this now.

forget the floating tablets get an automatic chlorinator-Sun evaporates the chlorine sometimes-Don't know anyone who has had luck with the floating tablets
Take a jar of pool water to a pool company and they will analyze it and tell you exactly what to do.
YOU WANT TO HAVE YOU CYANURIC ACID,, IE CALLED CONDITIONER AT ABOUT 80 PPM THIS WILL STOP THE CHLORINE FROM BEING BURNED UP BY THE SUN
