my home a/c lines freeze over causing system to quit blowing cold.?

If it uses freon then check to make sure that your freon is not low usually that is the cause of it, but if it doesnt use freon it usually means the blower is bad.

my wifes mom went through this last year and she just had to have a new unit installed......... but I dont know of anything really to tell you other than.... Keep it vented
bad evaporator coils or your system has a clogged line also look at the outside of the system and make sure you are getting proper air flow into the system itself.

it is possible that your a/c system is low on freon, you'll have to call your local heating/cooling professional to look at it.
You may have a bad defrost timer. Every so often an air conditioner defrosts itself. If that timer quits it will eventually freeze up.
ok...first turn you unit off for about eight hours or so, this will give the lines time to defrost..then use unit again as usual....This happened to me before also....
your a/c has moisture inthe system and could be under charged. just recieved my a/c certification.
Change your furnace filters. Oftentimes the filters restrict air movement over the coil in your furnace.
Shut off the furnace, replace the filters, wait for everything to thaw out and start it up again.
outside of freon , sometimes if it is being used in high humidity, you will have to raise your home temperature. ( i.e. from 68 - 80 ) this stops the condensation from accumulating as fast on the cooling coils.
most of the time this moisture is only noticed as the water which drains from the back of a unit. with high humidity, it tends to have a chance to freeze before it can drain because of the amount of fluids pulled out of the air during the coolling process.
mine were brand new, worked fine, until a similar thing happened. we were going to chuck both, when the temp for cooling was raised, it stopped.
as least you might have a chance to amend this before you begin to spend extra money.
