Whats better a oil or water based finish for wood floors? How much does it usually cost?

Answers:
Catalyzed lacquer. It's also moisture resistant, which is great for floors, because you never know when you might spill something. It's usually used on window sill, door jambs to outside or bathrooms.

Other answers:
Wax, water tight and scratch resistant plus you can give it a good do every year and it comes up like new.

i really prefer the oil based stuff. i tried some water based polyurethane on a project i just built and it smelled worse than the oil based stuff.....a good floor polyurethane should run about $50 a gallon
