it all depends on the type of 2 stroke oil your using
if its cheap oil then go for 25 to 1 that is for every 25 parts of fuel yo put 1 part of oil. eg: 1 Lt of petrol you put 40 ml of oil
if it mid range quality then go for 32 to 1. eg: 1 Lt of petrol you put 31 ml of oil
if its good oil then go for 40 to 1. eg: 1 Lt of petrol you put 25 ml of oil
if its very good oil then go for 50 to 1. eg: 1 Lt of petrol you put 20 ml of oil
note that the higher ratio means less oil but and i state that the oil must be of good quality
also note that if you use good quality oil you use less of it and that's better for the ozone

3.2 oz of 2 cycle oil to 1 gal of gas(32:1) make sure you never mix more than 1 gal at a time, as old fuel tends to gum up those little carbs. Empty all fuel from your trimmer at the end of the season for the same reason.
3.2 ounces is 40:1...... not 32:1. Use 40:1 or 3.2 ounces per one gallon of gas. Be sure to use a 2 cycle oil designed for a AIR COOLED 2 cycle. And don't skimp and use the cheap stuff. BTW, some 2 cycles come premixed with fuel stabilizer, read the bottle to see if it does.
