If you go that route you will want to get some Welded Wire Fabric/Wire Mesh) to use as reinforcement and something to hold the wire mesh so that it is in about the middle of the slab, if it's laying below the bottom third of the depth of the slap it will do no good. Sometimes you will see a person using a crowbar or something else to reach into the wet concrete and pull something up. My opinion is don't do this, the mesh will just settle back down in the slab and do you no good, spend the extra bucks on something to hold it up in the middle of the slab.
Also you will want to put in control joints. A good ready-mix plant will be able to tell you how far you should space your control joints but the general rule is every 10 feet. If you cut them when the concrete is dry it will take a concrete saw with a diamond blade and you only have to cut about 1/2 of the depth of the slab. The control joints will keep your new driveway from cracking. The concrete will crack along the control joints hopefully minimizing the cracking that concrete always suffers. There is a wet saw method but I'm not overly familiar with this. What it amounts to is a specialized hand tool on an extension pole that you can run across the concrete while it is still wet to avoid sawing it once it cures.

well it depends on what kind of driveway you are trying to build, if it is a concrete drive, then what you need to do is this: 1st take out the grass sod and dig out enough dirt to be to get at least 6 inches of road gravel for a good base
2nd put down a layer of sand about 4 inces thick
3rd rent wha is called a compactor and pack the sand down very well, making over lapping passes
4th frame the size of the drive you want it.
