WD 40 Has just come out with a great new product. It is in the form of a felt-tip marker that is soooo easy to use. It will remove a lot of gunky things like tape residue etc. Check your hardware store! Good luck.
try a product called GOO GONE or maybe some rubbing alcohol.
Spray a little WD-40 on a cloth and rub the residue with it. It should come off easily. i've also used olive oil, though it takes longer to get the sticky stuff off. It shouldn't damage the plastic, but you should test a little spot first just to make sure.
There is this stuff called "Goo Gone" it smells like citrus and is an orange color. You can find it at Wal-mart, Kroger or any other supermarket near the claening products.
You could try simple rubbing alcohol - that should loosen the adhesive enought to pull the tape off and then finish cleaning it with a liberal dose of the rubbing alcohol, rubbing as firm as possible without damaging the plastic.

Nail polish remover should work in the same way, though it may damage the plastic. I'd test this on a hidden area if you're trying to salvage something of value.
