What are the disadvantages of burying an LP tank?
Answers:
The main consideration for me would be the cost per gallon of propane when I refill the tank. If I own my own 500 gallon tank, I can call any propane dealer I want to and get a bulk price reduction if I fill at least a 500 gallon tank in our area. That's the difference between $3.00 a gallon for a 100 gallon leased tank and maybe $1.70 a gallon for the 500 gallon tank. You could put a pressure treated wood fence around it with climbing plants of some kind to integrate it into the landscape.

so it is strictly cosmetic? I dont think they would allow you do do so as reading the meters would become troublesome. I agree they are not the most attractive things to put of your lawn, but what about fencing it in? I would think it would be cheaper to build around it than to bury it.

You can't bury an LP tank because it will eventually rust and explode. Also,I don't think you can legally do this.
The only drawback I have seen here in South Florida -
is the buried tanks - (when empty) can float up after a flood and they will break the supply Lines. This seems to be the old forgotton tanks though.
