Girlfriend has drywall problem.?

A girlfriend of mine seems to have a problem with drywall. Some places its kind of moldy. What could we put over it? Is there some kind of coating that would help?

Answers:
First you need to find and eliminate the source of the mildew. It may need better ventilation, or there could possibly be a leak in a roof, or foundation wall, or plumbing in the wall.

After that is solved you will need to treat the mold/mildew to kill, and remove it. TSP would work, but a bleach solution would be better. Use about 2 cups of household bleach to 1 gallon warm water and scrub down the walls.

Then you will need to assess the condition of the existing drywall. If it is saturated with moisture, or has deformed due to moisture, it will have to be replaced.

After all that, prime the wall with oil based primer/sealer (KILZ is a good product) then paint using a paint which contains a mildew resistant chemical.

You can't just cover it up. You could try a bleach solution (ask at Home Depot), but I think you probably need to replace the drywall.
Shouldn't this question be in the Women's Health section?
If there is mold in the drywall and you do not the the source of the wetness you need to solve that first. Covering it up will only help the mold grow. There is a leak somewhere or if this a bathroom it does NOThave the proper ventilation. If you solve the wetness issue then the mold need to be cleaned off. A bleach solution should work if its not too bad. There are specialty paints that are made for bathroon that tend to be more wet then usual.
Find the source of the moisture. No sense in making a change if the problem still exists. Then you MUST cut out the damaged wall board, and have it replaced. Mold really likes the cellulose in wall board. There are some paints and primers that help prevent mold from growing, but they are not good for a problem that already exists.
Paint it with Kilze ,then with regular paint.
Uaagh!! Take her to the hospital!
Mold returns even after bleach treatments. I'll assume it was flooded or extremely moist.

Mold attacks the paper of drywall and shows through paint,,, It does not attach to the plaster based material of the drywall itself.

Kilz and other treatments hide mold only briefly, and certainly if the conditions remain, so will the mold.

I replaced 11,000 sq. ft. of flooded drywall, installed at 2 inches off the floor, to avoid contact with the issue in its possible reoccurrence.

KILZ is a good product. You can purchase it at most any hardware or paint store ie. Home Depot.
