How do you get rid of those rusty circles on work tops.?

Here they have a cleaner called CLR, it usually works for rust. I don't think he can complain now. Before the papers were signed would have been the time to do it. He might want to look into replacing the counter (worktop) or just finding a nice surface that he can put over it.

worktops? as in counters? he can try C L R i dont know if its sold where you are though its a rust and stain remover if they are wooden her should try buffing them out and refinishing them
and it depends on who sold it owner finance or thru a realty company? if a realty company he could at least send them a bill for cleaning and repairs ,, i would if that dosent work maybe talk to a lawyer

Easy-Off BAM...... The one with the orange top. It's great for cleaning off rust, Lime build-up, soap scum and stuff like that. I just sold a house I had lived in for 21 years and by the time I left, the house looked like NEW.
"CLR" is a product in the US. stands for calcium, lime, rust. It would work. At all hardware stores.
