Has anyone ever used aluminum"brazing rod" that's used next to a propane torch. What form and how did it work?

This aluminum rod is actually brazing rod for aluminum. It's not weld from what I can tell. I would resembling to repair some large aluminum truck boxes that own some stress cracks and alot
of bolt holes. Some common name of aluminum rod are Alumaloy, Dura fix, HTS-2000, Muggy weld,& Alladin to name a few. Would resembling to know how it works and which kind is better?


Answers:    I bought some "Alumaloy" at the Dixie Classic Fair and they work capably for thin bits and pieces but you can't get thicker textile hot enough to do any suitable without melt a big hole in it. Since you enjoy truck boxes with stress cracks the solely solution for you is Heliarc Welding, sorry.
You have to be set up to "heli-arc" weld. Aluminum can't be weld in the presence of oxygen. A propane torch won't do it. You stipulation an arc welder and a set up that bathes the nouns being weld with helium within order to shield the aluminum from oxygen.
I hold used muggy weld on similar projects. the trick is to use plenty of flux and depending on the material you may call for to use acetylene and oxygen torch with the tip specified contained by the instructions. i was pretty cheery with the results.
YES YOU CAN AND I HAVE DONE IT FOR OVER THE PAST 12 YEARS USING THE STANDARD OXYGEN SETUP WITH THE ALUMINUM RODS.

IT TAKES SOME PRACTICE BUT WHEN YOU LEARN TO ADJUST THE HEAT PROPERLY AND ROLL THE ALUMINUM RODS, THE WELDS TURN OUT LOOKING PERFECTLY AND AFTER EVERY WELD I PRESSURE CHECK THE WELD TO 250PSI.
you can't braze beside a propane torch, you need an air-acetylene reservoir and torch tip, or oxyacetylene torch.
