Will a Non-Contact Voltage Detector allow me to track power running from a switch to an outlet through a wall?

It was recommended that I purchase one of these and I dream up that it is a great idea. I want to know if I obligation to have closer access to the line or if it will work through a wall. Thanks


Answers:    They will not work through a wall. They only work when held against the telecommunication or very close.
All you can do beside that is know when the power is on. A noncontacting voltage dector detects the alluring field created when current is flowing. It won't be exceptionally accurate in calculating power consumption, but it will agree to you know when the power is being used.
