Gas warmness question?
1) surrounded by an approx. 2000sq ft house, what should i turn the temp down to when no one's home to maximize money saved/gas burned? i want to save $ by turning it down during the afternoon when we are at work, but don't want to turn it down so low that it takes more extra gas to boil up again than we would have originally used.
2) only just i smelled gas outside, panicked, and quickly called the gas co. they replaced our meter but i smelled it again a few days subsequent. the gas co. came rear, found nothing, and suggested we hold a technician come check out the furnace. does this sound plausible? the notion of a gas smell anywhere makes me bashful but the gas co. guy didn't seem too phased.

Answers: The gas odor you most possible smell is either from start up or it''s only just the vent on gas meter you smell. Be concerned if you smell it inside your home! And lowering the temps to low during the day will label your unit work harder to corner up to new temp! It's better to lower it simply a little bit, so it don't use that much gas to catchup !!!
honestly turning the heat down for a few hours and then bringing it pay for up wastes more fuel than you salvage, if you left for a weekend or a week they you would pick up money. it is possible that the heater have a bit of a delayed ignition, have a qualified local contractor check the furnace out, it is solely a service call and will confer you peice of mind if it is nothing, but could prevent main expenses later
