I'm sure you've tested for spark and received none? the old ground the plug to the engine and watch for spark? a sheared flywheel key will still give spark..... sounds like a failed ignition coil. (magnetron)

Have you hit anything while mowing, like a rock or a piece of wood? Sometimes the keyway can be sheared on the flywheel from this. The only way to tell, is to pull the flywheel though. If you've already tested the mag. and the plug wire, there isn't much else it could be. It is getting fuel, right?
