Answers: The cost and difficulty of maintenance depend on the type of filter system and the size of the pool. I hold a 20 x 40 Grecian style pool which holds about 29,000 gallons. My filter is a Hayward 75 (diatomaceous earth) near an attached chlorinator, and my vacuum is a Hayward Pool Vac Ultra. Purchased items during the season are: 1. DE, about 3 oodles at $14 per - 2. Ch 3" tabs, 1 50 lb. bucket at $120 per - 3. Granulated Ch, 12 containers at $14 per - and 4. algae preventative, something like 3 1qt. bottles at $12 per. A test utensils and chemicals will be a minimum expense. These are really all you inevitability, so don't let anyone homily you into getting a bunch of c--p you won't generally stipulation. I also suggest a Meyco Safety Cover. They are expensive (mine was nearly $1500 installed), but they are worth it for convenience. Your biggest single job will be puting the cover on and taking it sour. The rest is keeping the chemicals balanced and the algae at firth. This might amount to an hour a week. My parents hold a pool. A guy comes and cleans it. I think they salary a pretty penny to keep it up. Be alert.
