Help! What would cause my lawn mower to keep fouling a spark plug? I clean it and it keeps happening again.?
Answers:
If it uses alot of oil, this will carbon the plug up easy. (broken oil ring to worn out oil and or leaky valve stem seal to defective engine breather) running rich it will bellow black smoke.... get the carb rebuilt (tear it down (pics along the way is good for reference) get a carb rebuild kit and soak it in carb cleaner for a couple hours and blow it out with compressed air and put it back together again). White to blue smoke is oil. NOW low compression (atleast 80 psi) will foul a plug after a few minutes also.

Too many answers but check the gap of the spark plug and the gap of the (points if it has points) or adjust the carb. If it's a 2 cycle, you could be getting too much oil in the mix. These are just a few answers. Hope they help.
Hi, if it is a 2 cycle, you may have a to rich of a oil mixture in the gas or your carburetor needs adjusting. If you have a 4 cycle you may still need to have a carburetor adjustment or have a bad oil ring. Hope this helps
