Would you still get a Home Inspection on a brand new condo unit?
The people who are for it say it's worth the peace of mind. The counter-argument is that I'm wasting money and that since the unit is considered to be new (less than 6-7 years old), I'd be wasting my money (home inspectors can still make mistakes and not predict what home repairs/tweaks are needed in the near time-future). What do you say?
Answers:
Make sure to get it inspected. It is worth the money in the long run. If you don't, who knows what you will miss. I do new construction cleaning and I see a lot of stuff that is passed by and/or covered up all the time. You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I have seen done in places, inspection by a professional eye is what you need. They catch things that you never will, but the person who wants to purchase it from you in 5 years or whenever may catch & request you fix it before they buy it.. You never know how much money an inspection may save you, the only thing you will know up front is how much they will cost. The pros of an inspection out weighs they cons by a long shot in most cases. Do not think your price tag matters, as far as how much you paid, that never counts for anything as far as a construction crew goes. GOOD LUCK! :)

Pay for the inspection. Builders and remodelers aren't perfect. And if they didn't abide by the building codes, the inspector might catch it.
I think with the 1 year warrantly you're probably going to be fine without the home inspection. How much would the home inspection be?
I think ultimately, the decision to have a home inspection depends on your budget... if it'd be a sacrifice to have the inspection, I'd probably pass. If it's more like buying a pack of gum, you might as well do it :-)
I really do think since you've got a 1 year warrantly it's not necessary.
when you invest in something that huge it is worth the extra money to have the peace of mind. think about it this is the safe place for your family and friends, it would not be a waste of money.
I would get a home-inspection on anything you buy. Even though the condos are recently converted, that does not mean its is perfect. Have it checked out for peace of mind. There is nothing worse than buying a home to find out there is something wrong. It is not too expensive to get an inspection and is worth every cent in my opinion
Get the inspection! I dont care if it was built yesterday. Contractors are out to make money at any cost. Contractors are businessmen. Most are never even on the job to see how it's built. I teach construction to contractors who have lost business because they hired the LOWEST sub-contractor.
absolutely yes, dont let yourself get hoodooed.
Yes you should. Things are built cheaper and faster these days. Its for you protection. It will be well worth the cost if there is something wrong.
