what do people look for when renting an apartment meaning space wise?

It depends if it's a single guy, single woman, couple or family with kids. The truth is it all comes down to the money and location of an apartment, what somebody can afford and if it's close enough to work and school. If this wasn't an issue, I would look for a bigger kitchen and living room, dining room is a must, bedroom I don't care about, I do like a lot of storage space, bathroom has to be spacious and absolutely no mildew anywhere, and for a woman more important issue is how far does she have to walk from where she parks her car to the apartment. This one made me turn down some of the beautiful apartments because I would have to park my car and walk 1 min to my door through dark area between other apartments and bushes.

Make sure you have a decent kitchen and bathroom, and plenty of storage. If there is no storage, or the kitchen/bath are inadequate, you'll be really sorry you moved in.
