Whats your experiance with HOME DEPOT installation service?

I recenly bought 3 doors *custom from home depot and they have cancelled on me 3 times now..... and then the last excuse was "they no longer install" in my area!! i have already paid these in full (as required on a custom job) and now they are giving me the run around.. I have read the " home depot" sucks sites and am amazed at all the troubles... I really wished i would have looked on-line first.... SO ..... whats your home depot horror story?..

* last i heard about my doors is" well the new installer is on vacation till the after 4th" and even then we are not sure when he will be able to "fit" you in. my doors have been ready since may 5th

Answers:
Keep in mind that these installation services are offered by these home improvement companies but the work is all sub-contracted out. You may have more luck finding your own reputable contractor and only purchase your supplies from the home improvement stores. My own experience with Home Depot is not good. I am a contractor and find that the service and overall knowledge of most employees is less than satisfactory. It is very difficult to find help when you need it and when you finally do find someone they do not know the answer. I like to shop at locally owned home improvement stores, I am lucky in that where I live a gentleman that started a small hardware store some thirty five years ago has been able to grow and compete very well with Home Depot and they offer the same products for less money with much better service. I also like the fact that the family still owns and operates the stores and train their employees very well

Other answers:
I have always had excellent dealings with Home Depot.

I think that I would call the corporate office, your credit card company (I always use American Express because of their clout), and/or Better Business Bureau.

I had a problem one time with another company, and made hand made signs and then went to the office and asked them where I could picket their store, and immediate I had the problem solved. Before you do this make sure that it is legal to picket in your city.

Good luck.

next time try Lowe's they have higher standards for there sub contractors
Because HD does sub contract out, they under pay these contractors and they do horrible work. At there competitor Menards the "TEAM" members who work there have to go threw a" In Home Training Course" be knowledgeable on there product that they are selling to the guest who shop there. Which leaves out the middle man of having to call a contractor and get answers, when you can just go to Menard's.
