1st time home buyer.Offer accepted! Found out siding is masonite. I live in Mobile AL.should i be Concerned?

If it is not damadged what do you want to fix on it? Masonite is a recycled paper product that can be great nad it can be horrible if not properly maitained. Check around the perimeter of the home at the base. This is usually a good spot for rot. Around windows and doors also. But if there is a deck this is the most troubling spot if it was not properly flashed. If it is dry and doesnt have any soft spots in the areas I mentioned you have very little to worry about.
Also keep a keen eye for sppts or boards that look new or recently replaced. These are spots where there was rot and have fixed to cover it up. Good Luck!

I think the poster below is thinking of OSB (Oriented Strand Board) This product is the one he described. Masonite is glorified cardboard.

Masonite IS NOT A PAPER product except that it is also made of wood!! it is a wood product made by steam blasting wood chips into long strands that are then formed into flexible, strong boards or sheets,,so like any WOOD product it needs to be properly treated and maintained!!
