Problem with my Ballcock replenishing .......?

When I turn on electric shower water tank drains until it is empty. Then suddenly shower dries up but motor keeps running not pumping any water out. Problem is ballcock won't kick in and start re-filling tank. If I reach in and give ballcock a nudge it starts filling again. Desperate - how do I fix....!!1????!

Answers:
change the ballcock arm mate.........cheap and easy to do, should be able to unscrew it from the outside of the tank take the arm out , down to b+q get the same one about £5.00 usually and refit..................shut the water to the tank off first!!

Other answers:
It could be that the ball is sticking to the side of the tank. Try cleaning everything. If that's not the problem, you need a new one. They are easy to fit and modern ones are much easier to adjust.

Once you start having trouble with a ballcock, it usually means that there is wear on the pivot. No matter how you clean it, it will still stick after a few days. If you have a word with your local DIY shop, they will show you a "silent" ball valve, they are dearer than the basic, but they are brilliant. They don,t stick and they don,t vibrate when turning off.
