I have ants in my kitchen, how do I get rid of them - non-toxic?

Believe it or not, Windex kills ants. After killing the visible ants in the house, spray a light mist around the area that they are coming in. You just have to remember to refresh the area after shampooing or washing. It really does work.

try TERRO. I wrote them a letter asking if it was safe to use around the kittens I have, and they said it was fine. It was a syrup similar to maple to attrack the ants and then borox to kill them, but no enough to hurt anything larger.

There are certain bug sprays that are safe for your kitchen and family. Look around in the bug spray section and you should see one.

Or try mopping the floor, ants leave a sent behind them when they find food so the others come too.Get the ants out of your house, mop the floor and get rid of theyr food source.
The best solution we've found is diatomaceous earth (DE). You should be able to find it at garden centers and feed stores. It is harmless to all mammals, unless you breathe too much of the dust. It's made of the powdered remains of sea creatures, and has microscopic sharp edges that cut insects' bodies and cause them to dry out and die. It's so harmless to animals that farmers add it to feed to kill weevils in the grain.
Just spread a thin line inside cabinets or next to baseboards, wherever they are coming in.
Terro works very, very well and all you folks can eat the stuff. Not that I would but the amounts you are going to use won't hurt any of you.
Don't kill those innocent busy worker ants, they are just storing food for winters. Use turmeric powder to repel them. Or simply identify their hideouts (routes) & close it with cement or plaster.
Sprinkle ground black pepper around the outside of the house--like a window ledge closest to the ant's entry point into the house. Inexpensive and bio friendly.

To get rid of ants, you need cinnamon and a vacuum with a hose. Find out where the ants are coming into your home and pour about a tablespoon of cinnamon over the hole. Vacuum up any ants you see in the kitchen to prevent them from scattering all over your house. This worked great for a friend of mine, and I had to do it when we moved into our new house. Makes the house smell good, too.
