12 hp briggs and stratton wont start?
Answers:
12 volt just jump it with your car battery-
And make sure all your safety switches are working -
Like the seat, reverse, deck engage, neutral etc...
Other answers:
It is easy to find out take the battery into any local auto parts stores they usually offer free testing of batteries. If you need one they are the best place to get one cheaper than at a briggs and straton dealer.

it would take a 6 volt
check the ignition wiring make sure it hasn't come out
It takes a small 12 volt lawnmower battery and if it still does not turn over check the fuse It will be a 10amp green fuse if it does not still start check starter switch and make sure there is no old gas in it and if so empty out and clean out carbuerator , make sure you have good spark plugs, and keep mower covered & out of rain when not in use & keep oil changed and other moving parts greased regularly & keep air filter clean.
12 volt L&G battery.....
Replace it if its over two years old..... thats about the lifespan.
If it doesn't turn over at all.... try the battery, check the fuse and the wiring.... It can be a couple things..... bad battery, bad key switch, bad connections to grounding connections or a bad solenoid.
