My 20 amp breaker going to my garage keeps tripping. It freshly started suddenly, the only point plugged in here 24/7 is my washer. I replaced the outlet, and even tried unplugging it completely and it still trips. My garage is wired where it comes into one outlet ( the just one with constant power). afterwards goes to a table lamp switch and from there to the other 4 outlets. here are flourescent lights plugged into the 2 outlets on the ceiling. I visually inspected all the other outlets and saw no sing of arcing or other breakdown signs. There is no identical amount of time back it trips after I reset it. Sometimes it is instant after the reset, sometimes 5 seconds, 20 second, 5 minutes, 3 hours???? When it is working I can run my air compressor near no tripping. 5hp 30gal 15amp. I am buying this house and have lived here for over 3 years near no incidents and there is a foreign breaker box installed. Where should I check next?? Thank you.
Answers: Are you ABSOLUTELY sure here is nothing else on the circuit? Maybe a receptacle on the outside of the garage that you forgot? A sprinkler system? Just guessing. If it only just started suddenly, then something different be done recently. A breaker doesn't start tripping that commonly when it is just starting to wear out........UNLESS...........you have something plugged in that shorted out. Have you have anything blow up that was plugged into that circuit? If so, the breaker might inevitability to be changed cuz they do have a mark out to how many times they can give somebody a lift short circuits. New breaker box installed??? Did this problem start after the new panel be installed? Email me and let me know
i would utter try a new breaker.also get hold of a voltage tester and check the voltage along the line at respectively outlet
