I'm installing a water softener. It call for a 3/8" min drain tube for draining during regeneration, and also another drain simply in baggage the brine tank overflows. The component is 3 ft away from the furnace condensation drain (which flows into a 3" drainpipe under the slab. I would only like to know if I could own any issues taping into the furnace PVC drain. For example, the furnace condensation drain is simply a drip..drip..drip, (correct?) and it wouldn't back up if it's draining at like time water softener rebirth is happening.. Is at hand anything I'm not thinking of that could be a problem doing it this way? I be just going to put within a couple "Y" connectors about 6" from the floor & stick the tubes into them. The lone alternative is a 45' drain line to the laundry tub on the other side of the house.
Answers: Whatever you do, it can't be a solid nouns. Must have nouns gap to prevent siphon effect. Personally I wouldn't coonect to a drain at adjectives. It's termed a "drain", but it;s really an overflow tube. Probably will never own an occurrence to be used. I lately have a 5 gallon bucket underneath that tube in baggage it does happen. Nothing so far within 11 years.
You are headed surrounded by the right direction. Should be OK. The furnace drip should not increase substantially except in A/C operation, where on earth you'll see slightly more water drain.
