Plumber's putty?

I put plumber's putty in when I replaced my sink strainer picnic basket (kitchen) a couple of weeks ago. The putty is still coming out. Why didn't it dry? There is no leak immediately, but should I stop using the sink until it dries for good or something?

Answers:    No. It's fine. You probably freshly didn't tighten the strainer as much as you could have when you installed it. You might want to check it and get sure its tight.
Generally it takes long, long time to dry so simply keep after it and eventually it will stop oozing out. Or try tightening the strainer nut some more until it bottoms out and that will stop the ooze.
