Is it normal for my A/C to run a lot?
Answers:
yes every ones is running alot in this high humity this year. this is normal
Other answers:
sure, on hot days it must work extra hard. Make certain you have good insulation in the attic. You can raise the thermostat a couple of degrees higher on hot days so the AC doesn't have to work quite as hard.

Yes,keep the doors and windows closed.
yes. with the new freon's .
Change your filter every couple of weeks instead of once a month and make sure it is getting enough air thru the intake vents!
Good luck!
It is normal for it to run almost continuously. Make sure the filter is clean and the condenser coils are clean and free of dust, dirt, grass clippings, etc. etc.....
The only things out of the ordinary that would make your a/c run all the time are your filter (make sure it is not clogged Check and change every few weeks if necessary) and your unit outside (make sure the coils are clean and free of debris) if they are dirty cut the power off to the unit (usually located outside with the unit) and use your garden hose or shop vac to clean them. I had a professional HVAC installer tell me that a/c is only going to vary the temperature 10 degrees from inside to outside. So if it is 95 degrees outside your a/c is only going to be able to cool it to 85 degrees inside. So if you have your thermostat set at 75 degrees and it can only cool it to 85 degrees it is going to run continuously trying to cool it to 75 degrees. That's what I was told. Good Luck!
yeah make sure you don't burn out the compressor
I recommend to raise the temp setting and use ceiling fans for comfort
