I hold a 28000 gallon swimming pool - filter press!?
I am currently running a 1.5 HP pump on it.
What size inch filter will i involve to run on it with my pump?
Answers: When you Say what size inch filter next to your pump? Are you talking roughly the plumbing or the size of the sand filter?
I know that you say that you antipathy DE filters, but DE filter are the best filtration filters for swimming pools.
To illustrate. DE filter <and my numbers may be off, But it will be for illustration purposes only> DE filter filter your water as fine as 8 Microns, While Sand filter only Filter as fine as 14 Microns, and Cartidge Filters are singular 25 Microns. So what im saying is that while the marine May look clear with a Sand filter, it isnt nearly as clear lower than a microscope when y ou compare the 2 samples.
Also Keep surrounded by mind that while many see Sand as an alternative to the costs of DE every year, you still obligation to replace your sand every few years, as the sand does get "old" and backwashing of late will not clean it anymore. So after you have to replace the sand. So if you entail to replace 3 bags of sand every 2 years, at a cost of 10 dollars a pack, its 30 bucks every 2 years. DE is only 15-20 bucks a pack, and you probably use one bag a year, so over the course of 2 years, you own only save 10 bucks realistically, and you have dimished the filter effectiveness of you hose as Sand filters are not as significant as DE filters.
So Getting wager on to your real sound out now.. If you are referring to your pool plumbing if you own 1.5 inch plumbing you want 1.5 filter fittings, if you can only capture a sand filter with a 2 inch inlet/outlet, you can buy PVC reducers at pretty much any hardware store to bring your filter to work.
If you are talking around size of the Sand Filter, its really up to you, if you have a 48 SQ foot DE filter, you want to enjoy the Sand Equivalent. Off the top of my head i do not know, But most filter are around 150 lbs-200 lbs of sand. Your Pool store could probably give you more information on the right size of filter for your pool.
Hope this information help you.

You pump is plenty powerful. I suggest you use a 24 inch filter. It will be easier on your pump and need stern washing smaller amount often.
