Good Luck,
drill 4 small holes in the dent and use dry wall compound over spread dent let dry and sand later refinish
you use a drywall patch.
Just fill it beside drywall mud, or spackling. Make sure it is completely dry, as you will probably have to apply consecutive coats, as it wil probably crack as it dries. Paint to contest your wall when sanded smooth.
If it is of late a dent or very small nearby are puttys you can buy at any hardware store. I use it to cover nail and tack holes. They come within a small toothpaste-like tube and many own their own small putty knife for application.
Take any answer you want. They look angelic, but then install a door stop so it doesn't ensue again.
You answered yourself in your description. My husband does this for a living and it would be what he would do. This is a great explanation to keep the extra paint when you did that room - for touch up. But, remember to put a door stop contained by the baseboard so it doesn't happen again. The other remedy is you can buy a wall protector, not the most attractive - but works, it is circular and usually white plastic with a center screw, and put it contained by place with screw to catch the knob imprint when it does hit the wall, again the door stop will prevent it to commence with anyway.
