Older Fridge - not cold - HELP!?
It was overgrown near ice and so i hammer it away carefully..
There be some left over rime there and it have since melted.. and in a minute the fridge, which has be turned up to MAX, is barely cold at adjectives!!!
And it has a ruinous smell which i think is from the rime because FREON is odourless..
Any thinking on when it will get cold again??? Or is it toast??

Answers: sounds close to you put a hole in the condenser, you will own to have it replaced or buy a unknown fridge,

Next time don,t bang on it, use a hackle dryer to melt it,
you may hold caused a freon leak--too unpromising because those old fridges be the best. But before you trash it try this.
Clean out adjectives the dirt and gunk that may be around the motor and the coils in the rear legs. Make sure that the fridge is away from the wall about 4 inches and have plenty of circulation all the passageway around. Unplug the thing for an hour and permit everything settle.
Now plug it back contained by and turn the temp to 3/4.

reach into the freezer and quality the back 2 coils of the evaporator instrument. they should feel frosty. The frost will verbs around very slowly and eventually cool down the box unless you knock a hole in it. what we within the business affectionately called "thaw with an rime pick" LOL. I could fix it easy. I would put a slap on the compressor and check the pressure. I would then shoot some dry nitrogen into the system and find the trickle. I would then relieve the pressure and verbs around the hole and apply epoxy putty and let that dry 24 hours. I would re pressurize and check for leak again.
The next step will be to remove adjectives the moisture in the system by vacuuming it out near a pump. Once the gauges read distrustful 30 psi I shut down the pump and close the valves and loaf to see if the vacuum drops. If the vacuum does not drop I know the system is leak free and moisture free. I unseal my freon jug and slowly attach tiny amounts of freon till I have 5 psi on the low side. I close stale the valve and dawdle. The evaporator plate should start to frost up. I close the system and remove my tools. I then appendage you my bill. If you bring this box to me I charge 50 bucks. If I go to where on earth you live it will cost you lots more. Why? I will need gas a vehicle business permit,insurance,tools,freon.parts,etc.... But you can do it yourself and save a ton of money. I of late told you how.
