Answers: That depends upon how humid your climate is. An air conditioner also dries the atmosphere, reducing the possibility of mold or mildew. I live in Miami and turn the thermostat up when the house is unoccupied simply for that reason and because it take less sparkle (money) to keep a house cool than it is to catch a house cool. Drapes and blinds are also closed to reduce greenhouse effect of sunlight coming through window and doors. My FPL bill has dropped by $100/month.

Too much humidity can motive mold. Other than that I don't see why it would harm your house.
