How can I get sparkling silver?
Answers:
*To preserve the brilliance of precious sterling silver keep it away from extreme heat and moisture.
*Superficial marks can be removed from the surface with a soft cloth & mild detergent.
*Never use toothpaste as a silver polish because some toothpastes contains baking soda or other ingredients which are too abrasive and even trace amounts may cause serious damage.
*Only use polishes specially formulated to remove tarnish from silver.
There are various silver polishes available in the market these days.

that grease bullet thing has a electo plate you put baking soda on, know it sounds like a gimmick but it really works.
This is how I do it:
Line the bottom of a pan or deep bowl with tin foil shiny side up, sprinkle baking soda all over the foil, pour in very hot, ( not quite boiling) water. Then lay the silver pieces on the foil. Let soak for about 1 minute , take out, rinse off and dry with a soft flannel cloth.
There are no harsh chemicals this way so the items being cleaned are not damaged nor is the environment when disposing of the liquid. I use this method for all my jewelry, sterling silver, and silver plate. The only things not to clean this way are opals and pearls.
