when I use the water in the kitchen sink, a high pitched sqeal is heard in my pipes. the best was to get ti to stop is to flush the toilet or run the water in the bathtub.

You need to check that the jumper is not loose in the tap body . Or turn down the incoming water pressure using the main stopcock. Not sure if you call it that in the USA but that is what it is in England.
