What I would really like to know is how come some people like to do housework and why some people despise it?
Answers:
I think it's genetics. Some people like stamp collecting. Some find it boring and tedious. It's just preference.
As for it being how you're brough up - there were three kids in my house growing up. My sister is a COMPLETE SLOB. Always has been. My brother ALWAYS had everything exactly where it belongs in his room - neat as a pin since he was in first grade. I'm somewhere in the middle - I like it neat, but have slobby tedencies. So....there goes the "how you were raised" theory...we all had the same rearing.

Well, some people get a thrill out of keeping their space neat and organized. I know. Weird. Maybe it's genetic?
I think it has something to do on how parents raise thier children....if you have free time as a child and not forced to clean clean...more than likey...you wont be a clean freak....It just seems a lot of people that are clean freaks adapt it when their younger and stick with it...
I'm just guessing:
People who like to clean enjoy seeing their accomplishments immediately. They like watching the living room go from cluttered to neat and the carpet go from spotted with stuff to clean with the pile all standing up.
People who don't like to clean see it as a waste of time--tomorrow it's dirty again.
Some folks don't care what their home looks like or what their kids are embarassed to bring their friends home to. I remember going to a friends house who had 5 cats and piles of junk everywhere. Barely a chair to sit on because of piles of junk. The smell of old dishes and cat pee, litter and trash. ICK
Some folks think that if their house is not 100% perfect, they stink as a homemaker/wife. SAHM's especially. If their hubby can work all day, the least that mom can do is keep their house 50s clean, dinner on the table.
I fall in the middle. I keep some jobs for once a month or every two weeks (like cleaning the oven, the blinds, dusting the big dusting for real) and some for yearly (like cleaning under the washing machine) and others I do every day. But I do them at about 4pm, just before dh gets home, so it's not all undone before he gets here. But if I miss out, and the place is a mess, it's because I didn't want to do it or was too busy with my kids.
Now making work more fun might help you. I LOVE to turn on a good cd and jam while I see how much I can accomplish be the end of the cd. Then, I'm done.
But my house is never dirty. Messy? Sometimes. Lived in? Always....no show home here. But my kids' friends don't wonder what that smell is, or what I do all day either.
