I have bought, remodeled/renovated, and resold several HUD repo properties throughout the years. The only advice I can give you is to do your homework before you submit a bid. Repair bills can be huge, and you can get burned if you are inexperienced in this business. If you know what you are doing, there is money to be made and there are bargains to be had.
