No i have full cans of paint all over my house... we just moved in about a month ago and have been remodeling and painting everything our professional painter told us to keep it inside... Also if you have latex paint you DO NOT want to store it outside if it freezes it is ruined.

Yes, oil paint and paint removers should be stored outside the house unless you have them in a fire proof storage area.

Old paint in the garage was stored right next to a potential heat source, the hot water heater. Paul Jones of the Chesapeake Fire Department says the couple should store the paint outside.
Most paint today is latex and isn't flammable.
Yes, its not advisable to store paints in the house, especially oil paints, they are highly inflammable, like wise thinners(paint removers). But there are some other paints that are water base that are not flammable; the Emulsion paints.
Oil paints and paints removers are highly inflammable, and therefore should be kept away from the house
You can safely store paints and thinners of all types in your home. Make sure the lids are on tight and store in a cool, dry, well ventelated place. Do not store metal paint cans on a concrete floor for extended periods of time as the moisture in the concrete will cause the underside of the metal cans to rust.

Do not store paint products under stairways. Never store them near an open flame and keep them away from exposure to direct sunlight. Direct sunlight can cause the contents of the can to expand to the point that the lid will pop to relieve the pressure allowing paint fumes to enter the atmosphere. Do not store next to a furnace register for the same reason. Keep this material out of the reach of children.

In the end, use common sense and all will be well.

Good luck with your painting projects.
