central air set at 85 & frnace blower is on auto its not hot enough for the air to go but the blower comes on?
Answers:
The fan will often come on to remove heat built up in the system and cool it down. It is normal.
Other answers:
The blower will come on momentarily some possibly up to 6 times an hour without actually calling for cooling. This is called an air change. It can be preset on your furnace or even possibly your thermostat. There is nothing to be worried about it is normal, and it is a way of keeping air circulating in the house, and adjust pressures in the house also. It does not actually remove heat or anything else, it just means the furnace has been sitting for x amount of minutes without a call for heat or cooling.

You may have a problem with the Thermostat or the control board in the furnace. I have never heard of a blower coming on without the "stat" calling for heat or A/C. I don't know of any system that automatically does "air changes".
I agree Uncle Bob, I believe that you also have a T-stat problem and you can go to your local hardware store to buy a new one. May I suggest to buy a digital set back T-stat because they are more accurate then the Mercury T-stat. Make sure that the power is turned off at the furnace before changing the T-stat.
I never heard of an air change unless you are talking about commercial building.
Good Luck
Has the freeon been checked? You won't get cold air without it.
